Work at Wits University

At Wits University I move the pianos as required and I am responsible for tuning them, including the Shigeru Kawai SK7 concert grand.

My most recent job there was to move a Yamaha concert grand from the third floor to the basement, place it on the understage scissor lift and get it onto the stage. I then tuned two grands exactly the same for a recording featuring two pianos and a choir.

Questions from Johannesburg customers

How much does piano tuning cost in Johannesburg?

A standard piano tuning costs R900. A pitch raise tuning, for pianos that have drifted far flat, costs R1200.

Do you come to my home in Johannesburg?

Yes. I travel to Johannesburg and nearby areas. WhatsApp 071 611 7836 with your suburb to book.

Do you tune pianos for universities and theatres in Johannesburg?

Yes. I look after pianos for institutions as well as homes. My Johannesburg clients include Wits University and The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City.

What is a pitch raise?

A pitch raise brings a piano that has gone well below standard pitch back up before it is fine-tuned. It takes more work than a normal tuning, so it costs R1200.

How often should a piano be tuned?

Most pianos should be tuned at least once a year. Pianos played daily, or recently moved, may need it more often.
